US congress members congratulate Somaliland on peace and democracy
On Monday May 23rd, Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Adan Ismail and Somaliland’s Representative to the United States Rashid Nur met with influential Congresswoman Karen Bass at her offices in Washington D.C.
Bass who is the Senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs sub-Committee on Africa and a leading figure within the Congressional Black Caucus held a friendly and informative discussion with the delegation, during which the delegation highlighted Somaliland’s achievements over the past 25 years, its contribution to peace and security and the need for Somaliland to be recognised by the international community.
Representative Bass congratulated Somaliland praising it for its enduring traditions of peace, stability and democracy. She undertook to talk to the US State Department and other US Parliamentarians to explore how the US can reward Somaliland for its success and bring greater support, assistance and investment to Somaliland
