( The Indian Ocean Newsletter)- Somaliland’s former foreign minister, Edna Adan Ismail, paid a day trip to Paris on Nov. 9.
The World Health Organization’s former representative in Djibouti and director of Edna Adan University Hospital met with the head of the Africa and Indian Ocean department of the French foreign ministry, Remi Marechaux, and discussed setting up an Alliance Francaise in Hargeisa. She also met with officials from Medecins du Monde, the Hopital d’Assistance Internationale, and UNESCO.
Ismael also spoke with an official from Radio France International about working together on broadcasts aimed at teaching French to Somaliland students. She is not happy about the fact that such programmes are still not available in Hargeisa.
