UAE aid ship reaches Somaliland

ABU DHABI // A UAE ship carrying 1,700 tonnes of supplies provided by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has arrived in Somaliland.


The food and other supplies will help to alleviate the dire living conditions of those affected by the country’s ongoing drought,







The ship sailed from Hamriyah Port in Dubai to Berbera Port in tSomaliland. A relief team from the foundation will immediately begin distributing the supplies, including 32,000 10 kilogramme bags of rice, 32,000 5kg bags of sugar, 26,667 boxes of milk powder, 40,000 5 litre bottles of water, 26,668 10kg bags of flour, 26,668 packs of cooking oil and 1,650 boxes of dates.


In addition, 21,697 pairs of women’s shoes and children’s socks will also be distributed.

The shipment follows the directives of the President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, to provide assistance to Somalia, reported Wam, the state news agency.
