At least 17 persons have been killed in Dararweyne of Sanaag region after fighting erupted few days ago between two clans.
This is not the first time that these two clans have fought over resources, boreholes , land and a recurring past feud. The government has sent security forces last year to secure the borders of grazing areas used by both clans. This has not prevented the current fighting that has left 17 persons dead as confirmed to us by the locals.
Clan elders also mediated between the two clans but it seems the conflict is not going away unless a permanent solution is found.

#Somaliland - People have been killed needlessly in #Cel Afwyne in #Sanaag for the past few days as a result of two clans fighting over resources & past feud. The government must bring this recurrent conflict to end. It has erupted several times before & yet no solution was found— Medeshi (@Medeshi) January 22, 2018
